After 10 years of business, Bev is now retiring from making BevsChairs products. There is presently limited stock left for public purchase. However watch this space. Bev hopes to release to those interested, the registered design plans for you to make your own chairs, folding footstools/chairs or tabletops… or for you to commission your local craftsperson to make them for you. Bev hopes to have these easy to follow plans completed and available for purchase by the start of March this year (2024).

In this era of wanting to recycle and reuse, this deckchair can cater for the same user from infant through to adulthood. By tweaking the design of the Deluxe Deckchair, Bev came up with a shorter version but keeps with the same adult width. Therefore this oh-so-comfortable low chair became known also as the “Lifetime Deckchair”.

A concept perfect for a chair constructed to last 15 to 20 years.

This shorter and lower version of the Deluxe Deckchair is a great space saver. Now the children too will enjoy relaxing with you on their dedicated deckchairs.

The Mini Deluxe Deckchair is suitable for sleeping babies and toddlers. The rocking aspect of the deckchair can be safely locked. There are two positions using a bolt and wingnut arrangement; the lay-back sleeping position or the sitting up position. At 3 – 4 years old, the bolt can be removed for movement as the user matures.

Small children, to a youngster then through to being teenagers to an adult can relax indoors or outdoors. It even makes a perfect fireside reading chair for the little people or somewhere to do their homework at a later stage. As the user grows, what once served as a pillow for the infant, can be adjusted higher for a head rest for the toddler and then later becomes the upper back rest for the young person to later the lower back rest of the adult. A number of my customers have now purchased the Mini Deluxe as their low pool chair or garden chair.

Thus the Mini Deluxe Deckchair, sometimes known as the Lifetime Deckchair.

DESIGN FEATURES

  • – NZ grown hardwood; Eucalyptus Saligna – treated, prepped then wiped with Cabots Aquadeck Oil (waterbased) before assembly
  • – Buyers are advised to continue to treat with oil each year if the collection is continually left out in strong sun or weather. This will assist in keeping the wood in condition to last 15 to 20 years.
  • – Quality stainless steel hardware including bolt cap to finish
  • –EITHER Planosol 100% acrylic woven fabric – is rot resistant, UV protected to give a 7-year non-fade and repels water. The canvas sling would be double stitched using a lifelong-guaranteed thread. However customers will have to put in a special order for this material as Bev does have limited made-up slings in stock. (2 x Red and White stripes chairs currently available at PVC Polyester price).  These existing chairs are at the same price as those with PVC Polyester slings
  • – OR PVC Polyester sling (i.e. Shadecloth) – UV, mould and tear resistant, 10-year warranty material, welded not stitched, easy to clean and dries fast
  • – Colours remaining in this fabric: Chocolate Brown (x2),  Desert Cream (x2),  Slate Grey (x1)  and Forest Green (1) Sapphire Blue (x1) Black (no longer available)
  • – Once gone, BevChairs will be using Planosol Canvas only for all chair and stool slings. 
  • – Adjustable pillow position to suit standard kid height or taller kids to adjustable height back rests for adults

  • SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

At all times supervise small children around these chairs. The chair has moving parts, so keep the chair locked in reclining position or sit-tall position until they are tall enough for their legs to reach the floor when descending and mature enough to keep their hands on the wide arm rests when using the chair. This will avoid jamming any small fingers or having the chair tip forward with getting up.

All items in the ‘BevsChairs’ collection came with a 12-month warranty. Because the chairs were built to last, Bev stood behind all of the products that were made and sold. Warranty Conditions: The warranty applied for 12 months from the date of purchase to manufacturing faults and defects to the timber frame. The timber were warranted against splitting, provided the item has not been scratched or abraded. Proof of purchase with the date was required for warranty claims. Warranty Exclusions: Fading due to prolonged weather exposure to the timber frame and seat sling fabric or damage to the timber frame and seat sling through accident, misuse or negligence. Possible leaching of tannin or oils from the timber onto the surface of the deck, pavers, floor or concrete substrate. The chairs were designed for domestic use and the warranty did not apply to commercial applications. Maximum weight for the Deluxe Deckchair and Deluxe Lounger Deckchair was 120kg. Maximum weight for the Broad Deluxe Deckchair and Broad Deluxe Lounger Deckchair, adapted for increased width, was 150kg.
